Example: create a knowledge base

Name the collection

From Knowledge, choose New knowledge base. Group documents with the same authority, subject, and update cycle.

Choose embeddings

• Use the cached local BGE small model for a quick no-key start.
• Use a multilingual model when the corpus and queries span languages.
• Use a configured cloud model when its quality, latency, data handling, and cost fit your requirements.
• Choose before upload; the embedding dimension is pinned once documents exist.

Upload and test

   Create the base

   Confirm the selected model and create it.

   Upload approved files

   Use PDF, text, or Markdown and wait for Indexed.

   Attach it

   Open the agent and grant access to this knowledge base.

   Verify retrieval

   Ask a known-answer question and inspect the cited chunks in the run trace.
